Fats Domino was one of the most popular rockers of the 1950s and early 60s. His achievements and record sales during that time were rivaled only by Elvis Presley. With his boogie-woogie piano playing rooted in blues, rhythm & blues, and jazz, he became one of the inventors, along with Presley, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard of a revolutionary genre of music, rock 'n' roll.
In celebration of Fats Domino's 88th birthday, THIRTEEN's American Masters presents, "Fats Domino and The Birth of Rock 'n' Roll," premiering nationwide during Black History Month on Friday, February 26 at 10 p.m. (ET) on PBS (check local listings). The one-hour documentary traces how Fats Domino's brand of New Orleans rhythm and blues morphed into rock and roll, appealing to black and white audiences alike. Actor Clarke Peters narrates.

Fats Domino was born Antoine Domino, Jr. on February 26, 1928. He was the last of eight Domino children and the only one of his siblings born in New Orleans. His journey from a poor childhood in the Lower Ninth Ward to a key figure in rock 'n' roll is told using vintage performances of Domino and his band interwoven with reminiscences of fellow architects of rock 'n' roll.

Among those interviewed are producer/songwriter/bandleader and longtime collaborator Dave Bartholomew, who co-wrote and produced most of Domino's hits; J&M studio owner, engineer and producer Cosimo Matassa, who was involved in creating rock 'n' roll recordings by Domino, Little Richard, Ray Charles, Lloyd Price and many others; and saxophonist Herb Hardesty, a mainstay of both Domino's and Bartholomew's bands.

As a child, Domino liked to tinker on the family piano. His life was changed forever when his sister married Harrison Verrett, a New Orleans musician (banjo player), who taught him how to play the piano and introduced him to the music scene. Domino wanted to play the piano so much that he quit school after fourth grade, and worked in a factory in order to perform in local nightclubs.

Among Domino's musical influences were boogie woogie piano players Meade Lux Lewis (Boogie Woogie), Pete Johnson (Low Down Dog), and Amos Milburn (Bad, Bad Whiskey); and singers Big Joe Turner (Low Down Dog) and Louis Jordan (Caldonia).

While playing in the Ninth Ward clubs, Domino met Billy Diamond, a local bandleader and bass player, who invited him to play in his band at the Hideaway Club in New Orleans. It was Diamond who gave him the nickname "Fats" – even before Domino made a record — after the great piano player Fats Waller. Soon, Domino became a regular at the Hideaway Club, drawing crowds and accolades for his musical abilities.

However, it was his partnership with Bartholomew, pioneering R&B producer, songwriter, and New Orleans trumpeter, whose collaboration and guidance as collaborator, arranger and bandleader that would have the most profound impact on his career.

When Bartholomew took Lew Chudd, Imperial Records, to the Hideaway to hear Domino play Swanee River Boogie, which was his specialty number at the club, Chudd signed Domino on the spot. Two weeks later, Domino recorded his first record, The Fat Man, which attracted national attention, rising to #1 on the February 1950 R&B charts. The Fat Man is often cited as one of the first records in the rock 'n' roll style. For the next five years, Domino and Bartholomew's band recorded a steady stream of hits for Imperial Records.

The crossover record that would sell to blacks and whites was Domino's 1955 Ain't That a Shame. Within a week, the song was covered by Pat Boone.

By the end of 1956, Domino was making appearances on major network television (e.g., The Steve Allen Show, The Perry Como Show and The Ed Sullivan Show), and even in Hollywood films (The Girl Can't Help It and Shake, Rattle and Rock).

In 1957, the Domino band traveled 13,000 miles across the United States working 355 shows, and selling out nightclubs and concert halls whenever they played. Yet, despite being the most popular rock 'n' roll band in the country, with a sizable number of white fans, Domino encountered racial segregation. As they toured, they were denied access to lodging, food and services, and forced to used "For Colored Only" facilities.

"He [Domino] had four major riots at his shows partly because of integration," says Fats Domino biographer Rick Coleman. "But also the fact they had alcohol at these shows. So they were mixing alcohol, plus dancing, plus the races together for the first time in a lot of these places."

"There was this historic moment in American history," says Coleman. "That the things were kinda coming together and people don't really credit rock 'n' roll for integrating America, but it really did."

By the end of 1963, a new generation of rockers was taking center stage. Though his days of top 10 hits were behind him, Domino continued to record. For the next 40 years, he toured internationally performing his hits at sold-out shows around the world. In 65 years, he never departed from his boogie woogie roots. And until his final public performance in 2006, Bartholomew and Hardesty were often in the band. Fats Domino currently lives in his native New Orleans.

"Fats Domino is one of America's most beloved entertainers," says Michael Kantor, executive producer of American Masters. "In viewing this film, we come to understand the pivotal role he played in the popularization of the big beat style and the birth of rock 'n' roll, but also the important influence he had on the music of the 1960s and 1970s."

The DVD featuring both the one hour PBS broadcast and the 90-minute "director's cut" will be available on the same day from Shanachie Entertainment.

The 30th anniversary season of American Masters continues with new documentaries about fellow music legends Carole King (February 19) Loretta Lynn (March 4), Janis Joplin (May 3) and The Highwaymen (May 27).

Launched in 1986, American Masters has earned 28 Emmy Awards — including 10 for Outstanding Non-Fiction Series since 1999 and five for Outstanding Non-Fiction Special — 12 Peabodys, an Oscar, three Grammys, two Producers Guild Awards and many other honors. Now in its 30th season on PBS, the series is a production of THIRTEEN PRODUCTIONS LLC for WNET and also seen on the WORLD channel.

To take American Masters beyond the television broadcast and further explore the themes, stories and personalities of masters past and present, the series' companion website (http://pbs.org/americanmasters) offers streaming video of select films, interviews, photos, outtakes, essays and more.

NEW ORLEANS, LA -- Just days before Dumpstaphunk celebrates their 10th Anniversary on the Gentilly Stage at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Gambit Weekly's 25th Annual Big Easy Awards will honor the local funk ensemble Monday, April 22 with the "Ambassador of Entertainment" special recognition award for championing New Orleans music, culture and charity to new audiences nationwide. The event, held at Harrah's New Orleans Hotel and Casino, will also honor The Meters with the "Lifetime Achievement Award" and Anders Osborne as "Entertainer of the Year."

"Ambassador of Entertainment is an award that honors artists that are spreading the spirit of New Orleans outside of our local community, a liaison to the rest of the world that brings a national spotlight to the culture that we have here," Gambit Marketing Director Marie Lovejoy explained. "We felt that from their extensive touring schedule to far-reaching press in publications like Rolling Stone and charity concert supporting Superstorm Sandy relief efforts, Dumpstaphunk really brought New Orleans to new heights. They had a knockout year and represented our city in such a positive way to a new spectrum of audiences nationwide, that we're eager to recognize their success at this years awards."

"It's probably the most soulful place in the world, New Orleans" said Dumpstaphunk keyboardist Ivan Neville. "The people that live here and the culture our community creates is something that everyone should experience in their life. We are proud to call New Orleans home and share its positivity through our music every day."

In addition to the event's special recognition awards, the 2013 Big Easy Awards will also honor local artists in more than 20 music categories, for which Dumpstaphunk has been nominated as "Best Funk Band" alongside Galactic and Khris Royal's Dark Matter. The winners will be announced at the April 22 ceremony, which will also feature live performances from several nominated artists. ABOUT DUMPSTAPHUNK

"Dumpstaphunk has grown from a small side project into one of New Orleans' most prestigious modern funk ensembles." -- Rolling Stone

"I have a new favorite New Orleans funk band: Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk" -- New York Times
"One of the hippest funk bands in the land." -- Guitar Player

Nearly a decade evolved from their debut at 2003's New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Dumpstaphunk offers fans an unforgettable live experience steeped in the "Big Easy" tradition of a good time. The all-star collective features Ivan Neville on keys, the unique double-bass attack of veterans Tony Hall and Nick Daniels III, Ian Neville on guitar, and the monster addition of Nikki Glaspie on drums. From annual performances at New Orleans Jazz Fest -- "The colossal low end and filthy grooves they threw down from the Gentilly Stage must have set a Jazz Fest record for one of the baddest bass jams ever." (Bass Player, 2012) -- to music rooms and festivals across the nation like Bonnaroo, Wakarusa, All Good, High Sierra and beyond, Dumpstaphunk continues to spread an unmistakable groove with their hard-hitting performances that dares listeners not to move. "It's probably the most soulful place in the world, New Orleans," Ivan boasts. "Call us ambassadors if you want, we're proud to represent for the city and share that soulfulness with the word."

Dumpstaphunk's forthcoming studio album, Dirty Word (June 2013), re-imagines the boundaries of an entire genre, holding true to the opinionated, vintage funk of their forefathers in The Meters, Sly & the Family Stone and Parliament Funkadelic, but with a modern edge that forays into gospel, blues, and straight-up Rock n' Roll. New music from Dirty Word also boasts guest appearances by Dumpsta's friends and family including Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews, Rebirth Brass Band, Art Neville, Ani DiFranco, Skerik and Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. "We always keep the spontaneity going, that's something I love about this band. We can funk it out with the best of them, but we also like to showcase how all sorts of music can come together and push the boundaries of what funk music is,"? said Ivan. "We just hope to spread the good word through funk," added drummer Glaspie. "If we can create an escape, give people a reason to get down and forget their problems, then we're doing what we set out to."
Presented by Jakprints, the walkable photography exhibit debuts Thursday, April 25 at 2121 Chartres Street, just off Frenchmen Street, on the eve of the 2013 Jazz & Heritage Festival. This will be the first time the limited-edition fine art Giclée prints have ever been available for sale to the public.

InstrumentHead is a surrealist collection of musician portraits that captures the essence of each artist without ever showing their face. Instead, entertainers such as Bootsy Collins, Mickey Hart, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux and the late Uncle Lionel Batiste pose with their instruments in front of their heads, allowing Weintrob to create an intimate expression of each subject's artistic identity within the frame of a single, iconic image. "When I look at these photos, I can hear them playing," Weintrob explained. "This will be an exhibition like nothing I have even been a part of before."

More than 250 artists worldwide have participated in the project since Weintrob began shooting portraits in 2006. The concept evolved by chance when, during a typical portrait photo shoot, he suggested artists put their guitars down their shirts just to spice things up a bit and get creative. The idea had such a positive response with his subjects, that the series took on a life of its own. "The first thing I tell the artist is that I'd like to tell their story through the photo, and include what makes them special as a musician. I also ask, ‘How are your fans going to know that it's you without seeing your face?' So people show up with all the stuff that distinguishes them, and together we figure out how to incorporate it all into the portrait."

Weintrob's eclectic collection ranges from mainstream to cult musicians, contemporary and world, has been featured on NPR's The Checkout, Popular Photography and Luxxe Immo Fine Art Magazine, and shown at the Gathering of the Vibes Music Festival in 2010 and 2011, Mountain Jam Music Festival in 2010, and abroad at the Barcelona Voll-Damm International Jazz Festival in 2011 with the support of the United States Consulate.

His New Orleans InstrumentHead exhibit will host two celebratory gala events starting at 7pm on the eve of both Jazzfest weekends, Thursday, April 25 and Wednesday May 1, with live music and special guests that will bring the gallery to life. Located just a few steps away from Frenchmen Street and open to the public from April 25 to May 5, 2121 Chartres Street will morph into a walking spectacle of art-paneled walls covered in the signature 36 by 48-inch limited edition fine art Giclée prints, with an on-site photo studio for Weintrob to capture even more musical moments throughout the 10-day festivities.

Weintrob will donate 20 percent of the InstrumentHead proceeds to two local charities dear to his heart: the Tipitina's Foundation, a local nonprofit supporting Louisiana and New Orleans' irreplaceable music community and culture through childhood music education, the professional development of adult musicians, and the increased profile and viability of Louisiana music as a cultural, educational, and economic resource; and the New Orleans Musicians Assistance Foundation, working to sustain New Orleans musicians and tradition bearers in body, mind and spirit by providing access to health and social services through the New Orleans Musicians' Clinic, regardless of musicians' ability to pay, and by fostering cultural opportunities that advocate for and support this effort.

Shooting artist portraits and live event photography professionally since 1998, Weintrob's photos have appeared in the pages of Rolling Stone, Spin, Mojo, Billboard, Relix, Downbeat, Jazz Times and more. However, he says that InstrumentHead has had the most dramatic impact on his life and career thus far. "For a long time, I was known as just a live music photographer, and I think InstrumentHead has allowed me to re-invent myself as a portrait photographer," Weintrob said. "Through all of this I have really found my voice as an artist."

"Music is my life, music is my subject. I'm surrounded by musicians and I feed off of their creative energy. Even when I'm clicking the button of the camera, it's like I can anticipate the notes and feel how they're going to express themselves on stage," he added. "If it wasn't for music, I wouldn't be a photographer."

Click here to watch video of InstrumentHead in the making.

For more information about Michael Weintrob and an extended look at images from the InstrumentHead gallery, visit www.michaelweintrob.com/InstrumentHead.

About Jakprints

Sharing in a mutual love for music, art and creativity, Jakprints, Inc. is an artist driven, full-service printing company specializing in full color offset printing, apparel printing, large format prints and sticker production.
Exactly thirty five years ago born in the New Orleans neighborhood of Treme, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band revolutionized the New Orleans brass band by incorporating funk and bebop into the traditional style. Anchored by original members Roger Lewis, Kevin Harris, Gregory Davis, Efrem Towns and Kirk Joseph, the band has signed with Savoy Jazz who will help celebrate their auspicious anniversary with the release of "TWENTY DOZEN" -- an all new eleven track album which will be released on May 1st. Produced by Scott Billington at The Music Shed in New Orleans, the album showcases the Dirty Dozen Brass Band's quintessential sound mixed with a heady Caribbean flavor. The band will embark on a series of tour dates including a three night BAM residency in Brooklyn with Dr. John and a triumphant series of shows in their native New Orleans culminating in a very special album release & 35th anniversary reunion concert at the Temple on April 28th and a featured slot at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on May 3rd.

Born under the auspices of the Dirty Dozen Social and Pleasure Club in 1977, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band were a seven member ensemble who started out as the house band and eventually broke through the boundaries of the traditional brass band to evolve into a highly lauded world-renowned musical force. With several incarnations throughout the years, the band now consists of Gregory Davis (trumpet, vocals), Roger Lewis (baritone, soprano sax), Kevin Harris (tenor saxophone), Efrem Towns (trumpet, flugelhorn), Kirk Joseph (sousaphone), Terence Higgins (drums), and Kyle Roussel (keyboard). Former member Jake Eckert (guitar) is featured throughout "TWENTY DOZEN."

Says Roger Lewis: "It's a big old musical gumbo, and that probably made the difference, separating us from other brass bands out of New Orleans. It put a different twist on the music. We were not trying to change anything, we were just playing the music we wanted to play and not stay in one particular bag."

Connick will guest-star as Executive ADA David Haden, a dedicated, straight-shooting prosecutor who is assigned a case with Detective Benson (Mariska Hargitay). Connick's first episode will air January 18.
"This is a home run on so many levels," said Hargitay. "The show is very fortunate to have Harry's extraordinary talent, and I'm lucky because I get to work with my friend. I think Olivia couldn't have asked for a better companion to take her through a new stage in her life and career."

A star in music, theater, film and television, Connick recently won his second Emmy for musical direction of his live concert television special, "Harry Connick Jr. in Concert on Broadway." He currently is starring on Broadway in the musical "On a Clear Day You Can See Forever" about which USA Today said: "Harry Connick Jr. has never sung or acted more powerfully." The musical is directed by Tony Award-winner Michael Mayer, who also is the director of NBC's upcoming Broadway-themed drama "Smash."

This year Connick starred in the hit film "Dolphin Tale" which debuted at #1 at the box office with Ashley Judd, Morgan Freeman and Kris Kristofferson. He also added author to his credentials with "The Happy Elf," his beloved song and children's Christmas stage musical turned into a keepsake children's book with an accompanying instrumental jazz CD released by Marsalis Music. On television, Connick is best remembered as Dr. Leo Markus on NBC's "Will and Grace."

A proud New Orleans native, Connick and longtime friend Branford Marsalis opened the Ellis Marsalis Center for Music in The Musicians' Village in the Ninth Ward of New Orleans last summer, in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity. From music to dance, theater to film, the goal of the Center is to harness the exceptional talents of the residents and students of the surrounding Musicians' Village in a collective effort that will provide an invaluable resource to New Orleans.

New York City's premier jazz venue got the blues last April when Wynton Marsalis and Eric Clapton performed together in Rose Theater at Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center for two sold-out shows dedicated to vintage blues. The extraordinary collaboration, billed as Wynton Marsalis & Eric Clapton Play the Blues, paired these musical virtuosos with members of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra as they brought to life a repertoire of songs selected by Clapton and arranged by Marsalis.

Reprise Records captures the magic of these unprecedented shows from earlier this year on CD and as a CD/DVD combo that both feature selections taken from the two public concerts (April 8-9), as well a special performance for Jazz at Lincoln Center's annual gala (April 7). WYNTON MARSALIS & ERIC CLAPTON PLAY THE BLUES - LIVE FROM JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER will be available September 13 at physical and digital retail outlets for suggested list prices of $18.98 (CD), $24.98 (CD/DVD) and $9.99 (digital; audio only). The DVD will also feature a bonus performance of the classic "Stagger Lee" from legendary bluesman Taj Mahal's opening solo set for these special shows.

Marsalis, Artistic Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center and nine-time Grammy® Award winner, writes about his collaboration with Clapton, a 19-time Grammy recipient, in the album's liner notes: "...we wanted these concerts to sound like people playing music they know and love, not like a project."

To help them achieve that level of devotion, Marsalis and Clapton were joined on stage by Dan Nimmer (piano), Carlos Henriquez (bass), Ali Jackson (drums), Marcus Printup (trumpet), Victor Goines (clarinet), Chris Crenshaw (trombone, vocals), Don Vappie (banjo) and Clapton's longtime keyboardist/sideman Chris Stainton. Marsalis says the group combined the sound of an early blues jump-band with the sound of New Orleans jazz to accommodate the integration of guitar/trumpet lead, a combination that gave the musicians the latitude to play different grooves, from the Delta to the Caribbean and beyond.

The band nimbly navigated a diverse set list that touched on different styles, from the four-on-the-floor swing of Louis Armstrong's "Ice Cream" and the southern slow-drag of W.C. Handy's "Joe Turner's Blues" to the traveling blues of "Joliet Bound" and the boogie-woogie jump of "Kidman Blues." After opening the shows with his solo set, Mahal returned to join the band on "Corrine, Corrina" and the New Orleans funeral standard "Just A Closer Walk With Thee."

The one song not selected by Clapton for the show was his own "Layla," which was requested by bassist Henriquez and arranged as a Crescent City dirge to tremendous results. On his review of the performance, David Fricke of Rolling Stone wrote: "In the [song's] instrumental break, Clapton hit a series of stabbing licks lightly crusted with distortion, followed by Marsalis' slow parade of clean hurting peals – a moving dialogue in lovesickness and blues routes."
The high energy band kicked off their 'For True' album release week promotion with a jam packed hometown show at New Orleans' legendary Tipitina's on September 12. Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue were then off to New York City, where they played a special album release show to a packed sold out house. After performing his own band's sets, Troy sat in with Widespread Panic for a few songs. Next stop was the Indy Jazz Fest in Indianapolis where the band closed the show following George Benson. Early the next morning, the band flew back to New York City to play directly preceding The Dave Matthews Band.

Immediately following their set, the band headed to the airport to catch a night flight to London where they taped the prestigious Later With Jools Holland TV show prior to a series of TV, Radio and live concerts in the UK, Germany, France and Spain before starting a full scale U.S. Tour in October.

Atlantic Records / Warner Music Nashville announced today that they will release the movie soundtrack for the upcoming Paramount Pictures film, "Footloose," available everywhere on September 27th. The 12-track album features music from the film and includes eight new songs along with remakes of four of the classic hits from the original soundtrack.

Blake Shelton sings the film's title song, "Footloose," and Victoria Justice and Hunter Hayes join the album with the movie's love theme, "Almost Paradise." The star-studded line-up for the soundtrack also includes new music from Big & Rich, Cee Lo Green, David Banner, Whitney Duncan, Lissie and Zac Brown of Zac Brown Band. Other classic songs featured on the album are "Holding Out For A Hero" by Ella Mae Bowen and "Let's Hear It For The Boy" by Jana Kramer.

Writer/Director Craig Brewer ("Hustle & Flow," "Black Snake Moan") delivers a new take of the beloved 1984 classic film, "Footloose." Ren MacCormack (played by newcomer Kenny Wormald) is transplanted from Boston to the small southern town of Bomont where he experiences a heavy dose of culture shock. A few years prior, the community was rocked by a tragic accident that killed five teenagers after a night out and Bomont's local councilmen and the beloved Reverend Shaw Moore (Dennis Quaid) responded by implementing ordinances that prohibit loud music and dancing. Not one to bow to the status quo, Ren challenges the ban, revitalizing the town and falling in love with the minister's troubled daughter Ariel (Julianne Hough) in the process.
Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews follows his Grammy nominated 'Backatown‚' CD with 'For True,' to be released Sept 13 on Verve Forecast. 'For True' features Andrews' band, Orleans Avenue, as well as a string of legendary performers with whom he recently shared the stage, including Jeff Beck, Kid Rock, Lenny Kravitz, Ledisi, Warren Haynes, Ivan and Cyril Neville, Rebirth Brass Band and more. Troy wrote or co-wrote all 14 tracks on the new album including co-writes with Ledisi, Kid Rock, the legendary Lamont Dozier and more. The CD was produced and engineered by Ben Ellman (except "The Craziest Thing" produced by George Drakoulias).

The singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has earned unanimous raves on 5 continents in the past year alone with his patented high energy 'supafunkrock' sound. He was praised in the media from Rolling Stone and Entertainment Weekly to NPR and the New York Times following the 2010 release of 'Backatown,' which spent 10 weeks at #1 on Billboard's Contemporary Jazz Chart and still reigns in the top 10 over a year after its release. Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue have been everywhere since, performing on The Late Show With David Letterman, The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Austin City Limits and more. Troy has made additional appearances on Good Morning America, Tavis Smiley, NFL Kickoff (joining Dave Matthews Band), ESPN and a recurring role on the hit HBO series Treme, on which he played himself.

In December 2010 Andrews brought an all-star lineup from NOLA to New York as musical director for the landmark 'Red Hot + New Orleans' concert event at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Broad based respect for Andrews' virtuosity and versatility is exemplified by a list of performances at events as varied as Bonnaroo, and Jam Cruise to Japan's Fuji Rock Fest, Australia's Byron Bay Blues Festival, the prestigious Montreux, Newport, and Playboy (at Hollywood Bowl) Jazz Festivals, Philadelphia Folk Festival, San Francisco's Hardly Strictly Bluegrass and a Reggae Festival in Germany in addition to festivals as far flung as Brazil and Singapore plus tour dates with Jeff Beck and Dave Matthews Band.

Andrews has built his reputation on "blistering, bold, exuberant and cutting edge" (USA Today) live performances and is currently on tour with Orleans Avenue. Full tour schedule here: http://www.tromboneshorty.com/tour
PHJB and The Del McCoury Band continue the "American Legacies" Tour, this time in Manchester, Tennessee for the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival. While on tour together in Lawrence, Kansas the McCoury Bus broke down and Del's band hopped on the PHJB Bus. While on the bus, Clint Maedgen, Ronnie McCoury, and Alan Bartram jammed a bit and the result - "Bonnaroo (Feel The Magic)" - The Official Theme Song for Bonnaroo!!!

Here's the official word from Bonnaroo:

"Superfly Presents and AC Entertainment are excited to announce that Bonnaroo now has an official theme song. The song, titled "Bonnaroo (Feel the Magic)," was written by the Del McCoury Band and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. This will hereby serve as the festival's National Anthem, its howl of joyous pride, its exclamation of exuberance, its own rally cry of sorts.

The video below was actually captured the third time this song was ever performed by the artists and was taken backstage at a gig on their "American Legacies Tour" that Del McCoury and Preservation Hall are currently in the midst of. The official studio version of the single is available for download at iTunes.

Legendary hip-hop producer Mannie Fresh (Lil' Wayne, Juvenile) is currently working on a hip-hop remix of the song.

This is the way the song was written as recounted by Preservation Hall Creative Director and Tuba Man Ben Jaffe:

"Del's bus broke down outside of Chicago at 3am following our 'American Legacies' gig. Pres Hall turned around, picked up the stranded McCoury's on the side of the highway in the snow. Once aboard the bus, Ronnie McCoury presented the idea that the two groups work together to create an original Bonnaroo theme song in celebration of the 10th year anniversary. The melody and lyrics came to Preservation Hall vocalist Clint Maedgen as if the song had already been written. An hour later, the first version of it was recorded on an I-Phone and this video was recorded backstage the following night."

The festival is very proud of its new theme song, and considering that Del and the McCoury's performed on the very first Bonnaroo as well as the festival's close connections to New Orleans, this song could not be more appropriate."

Catch Preservation Hall Jazz Band & The Del McCoury Band at Bonnaroo on the "The Other Stage" on Friday, June 10 at 7:30pm!
This fall, the Irish rockers will return stateside for a 31-city headlining tour, kicking things off August 30th in Minneapolis, MN.

Tickets for The Script's U.S. Fall headlining tour will become available to the public on June 10th beginning at 10AM local time immediately following the band's performance on NBC's Today Show Summer Concert Series (see Ticketmaster.com and TicketNetwork.com).

"For The First Time," the hit single off Science & Faith is approaching Top 10 at Pop Radio and holding the #3 spot at Hot AC, while the video for the single – which debuted at #1 on VH1 around release - is currently in heavy rotation at MTV. The band recently appeared on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live show, and participated in VH1's Best Cruise Ever at the end of April.

The album, which was also released overseas, immediately garnered interest from critics and debuted at #1 in Ireland and the UK. Written and produced by The Script frontman Danny O'Donoghue and guitarist Mark Sheehan Science & Faith was recorded in both London and Los Angeles and is once again a testament to what The Script do best; pen emotion-packed songs that contain fluid melodies, haunting hooks and Danny's soulful vocals riding high over huge, anthemic choruses.

Critics on U.S. soil have followed suit. USA TODAY awarded Science & Faith a stellar review, The New York Times bestowed the album a "critic's choice review," while Entertainment Weekly described "the band's sunny lyrics, tuneful riffs, and build-build explode! – choruses nail a VH1 catnip niche."
As it awaits an official add date at crossover radio, "How to Love" will be added to urban radio on June 6 and June 7. "How to Love" follows the release of "6 Foot 7 Foot," the first single from THA CARTER IV, featuring Corey Gunz, which peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and No. 2 on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart as well as its Rap Songs chart.

Co-produced by Detail (Sean Kingston, The Game) and Tha Drummahz (Wiz Khalifa, Travie McCoy), and featuring Lil Wayne on acoustic guitar, "How to Love" is an unexpected departure from the New Orleans rapper's signature high-octane party anthems such as "Lollipop," "6 Foot 7 Foot," and "John." The shockingly romantic new single is an insightful and melodic hip-hop ballad that finds Lil Wayne exposing a rare glimpse of his softer side as he sings, "See, you had a lot of crooks tryna steal your heart / Never really had luck, couldn't never figure out / How to love." In an interview with Sway Calloway from MTV News, Lil Wayne said "How to Love" gives him "goose bumps" and that he has "never had a single like it."

Leading up to the release of THA CARTER IV on August 29, Lil Wayne's upcoming episode of MTV Unplugged will premiere on June 12 and the second leg of his headlining I Am Still Music Tour will kick off on July 13 in Hartford, CT. THA CARTER IV is the highly anticipated follow-up to Lil Wayne's ninth album, 2010's I Am Not A Human Being. Propelled by the No. 1 platinum hit single "Right Above It," featuring Drake, I Am Not A Human Being soared to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, in addition to topping Billboard's Digital Albums chart, Rap Albums chart, and R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

Lil Wayne recently capped off an outstanding decade that included selling more than 10 million records and earning eight Grammy nominations for his multi-platinum 2008 album, Tha Carter III, which shattered records by selling over one million copies in its first week of release. The New Orleans native who hails from the rough streets of Hollygrove is a veteran artist who released his first tracks at age 12 after he was introduced to Cash Money CEOs Ronald "Slim" Williams and Bryan "Birdman" Williams. He released the first installment of Tha Carter series in 2004, which added to his ever-expanding collection of platinum plaques, followed by Tha Carter II in 2006, which further solidified Lil Wayne's status as one of the best MCs in the hip hop game. But it was 2008's critically acclaimed Tha Carter III that gave Lil Wayne his iconic stature in popular music, paving the way for his advisory role to grow as CEO of Young Money Records.

Fan club pre-sale for the new dates begin Wednesday, May 25 with general on sale following Friday, May 27.
Explosions In The Sky is currently in the midst of a UK/Europe headline tour that has featured sold out headline engagements at the Roundhouse in London and Le Bataclan in Paris. The fall 2011 shows are the latest in an ongoing itinerary that recently saw the band play sell-out dates April 30 at Los Angeles' Hollywood Forever Cemetery and May 1 at the Fox Theater in Oakland, as well as its biggest ever headline show April 6 at New York's Radio City Music Hall–of which The New York Times said "the movie-palace splendor of Radio City Music Hall made an appropriately majestic backdrop for Explosions In The Sky."
their "All You Can Eat Tour" – a six week trek that finds the Swedes spending some quality time with their fans as they embark on a city by city exploration. Their longest US run to date, the tour kicks off in Chicago, IL on August 24th with the first of their mini-residences and will end on October 8th in San Francisco, CA with the last. They'll also set up camp in Toronto, New York and Los Angeles for extended stays with several other stops along the way – complete dates below.

The "All You Can Eat Tour" comes on the heels of their most recent sold out US headlining that was met with unbridled excitement. The Boston Herald said, "PB&J delivered frenetic, guitar-stoked rock 'n' roll..." and the Portland Tribune raved "...Peter, Bjorn & John put on a show that made the audience move, sing, shout and scream as they realized they were seeing something rare – the birth of a world class band" and went on the call them "one of the most compelling bands on the circuit right now."

The Spring and Fall tours are both in support of the band's latest full-length studio album – Gimme Some – that was released on March 29th on StarTime International to praise from the press including SPIN who said the new album has "punk-octane velocity," Maxim who described it as "addictively catchy indie rock," and ELLE who wrote that Gimme Some is "a back to basics collection of rock and punk infused tracks that make them a top contender for best album of the year." The new release also earned them a performance on Conan as well as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and found the band doing a session for Sirius XMU where they also co-hosted for a week and while on tour they performed live for NPR's World Cafe, KEXP and WNYC's Soundcheck among others.

With an amazing new album and a sold-out US headlining tour already under their belts this year, Peter Bjorn and John are thrilled to give fans some more when they embark on their "All You Can Eat" tour this fall. The city by city exploration will offer US fans a unique opportunity to see the band play in whichever venue on whichever night suits them best.
The band joined forces once again with producer Skidd Mills (Saving Abel, Skillet, Saliva), who had previously worked with 12 Stones on 2007's Anthem For The Underdog, which was inspired by the effects of Hurricane Katrina on their hometown of New Orleans. The first single and video from Only Human — which was mixed by Mike Shipley (Green Day, 30 Seconds To Mars) -- will impact radio and be available next month.

Says singer Paul McCoy: "We are very pleased to have signed to Executive Music Group, we felt they had our best interest at heart with wanting to get our music back to all our fans worldwide not only in the rock world but our fans in the Christian community as well. We appreciate all our fans and our main priority is to make sure our music is available to all who support us."

The New Orleans band's previous albums and singles have sold over two million copies in the U.S., in addition to singer Paul McCoy winning a Grammy Award for "Best Hard Rock Performance" for his contribution on Evanescence's "Bring Me To Life" smash hit single which went on to sell over 14 million albums worldwide. The band has also garnered multiple GMA Dove Nominations for their singles "Broken" and "Lie To Me."
Stay tuned for further album details and news about the band's forthcoming summer tour.
