New Orleans Hip Hop Group to Release "I Love, I Hustle" on June 28, 2013
New Orleans, LA – "I Love, I Hustle," the new album by New Orleans progressive hip hop group Jealous Monk will be released to the public on Friday, June 28th. Featuring the highly anticipated first single "Heatwave," the album will be available for purchase online through iTunes and JealousMonkMusic.com.
Jealous Monk's brand of synth-heavy indie hip hop has been a New Orleans favorite since the band's inception in 2005. Twice voted "Best Hip Hop Act" by Where Y'at Magazine, the band has developed a significant following over the years both nationally as well as locally. As their newest project, "I Love, I Hustle" reflects the rich and diverse musical culture of New Orleans starting with the standout single "Heatwave" - a 60's -inspired hip hop song complete with live horn and string accompaniments. "Heatwave" was released on May 28th.
Anchored by some of New Orleans brightest young talents, the group is comprised of standout DJ/MC/Producer Jermaine Quiz and longtime freestyle heavyweight Intelligence. Jealous Monk takes their future directly into their own hands by writing, producing, and performing their compositions all in-house – a rarity in contemporary hip hop. "I Love, I Hustle" was engineered by Austin Leigh Briggs, a prolific engineer who has worked with notable artists such as Talib Kweli, Currensy and Jet-Life Artists. As reviewed by MTV's Ourstage.com, "(Jealous Monk is) on the brink of major cross over success... garnering quite a buzz."
